This is one of my favorite pieces. The family group is a repeating theme in my fathers sculptures. I like the details in this one- the repeating themes of the dowels to indicate males and bells for girls; the stone for rock-solid dad, the nurturing elements- bells, spoon, shell, music box- in mom. The whole family group would be interesting in itself, but two more details make it special- mom's pregnant, and the tiny grave they're gathered around.
